The NovaGuard series is an antiscalant for once-through steam generators (OTSGs). It helps improve the soluble silica transport within the OTSG boiler system that prevents the deposition of amorphous silica or in the form of a wide variety of silicate minerals that also contain calcium, magnesium or iron. NovaGuard 1000 & 2000 series can prevent mineral formation even at high levels of soluble silica and works at ¼ the dose level of pure active chelant like EDTA.
Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) Evaporators normally take the boiler blowdown that carries water contaminants including suspended solids and bottom sludge from steam boilers.
NovaGuard has been successfully deployed as an evaporator anti-scalant under the following conditions:
- Evaporator running at high pH for the removal of high silica level of 150-180 ppm and water hardness (calcium and magnesium) at <40 ppm.
- Evaporator running at neutral pH for the removal of hardness with <10 ppm and silica level of 50 – 60 ppm.
